Annually, the Norwegian Association of Jewelery Designers (NAJD) organizes design contests for its members with specific themes.
There may be some conflicting feelings about competing in design, but such competitions clearly help to focus on Norwegian jewelry design. At the same time, the craft level will also be assessed. I like to participate in such contests because it challenges to create something new one would not otherwise think of, or simply force myself a little out of the comfort zone.
In 2015, I won 1st prize with the “Wave” pendant.“Wave” is made of silver with topazes and peridots.
In 2016 I got 3rd place with the tiara “Forest queen”.“Forest queen” is made of silver with topases and periodots, as well as silverprints of birch twigs.
It is nice to receive positive feedback once you have completed the effort required to make a contribution. But the most important thing is that such awards show customers that I can make jewelry at a high design and technical level.
